The Workshop

Services, advisory, and custom commissions.

Established 2026 · Baltimore
On the Work

The Workshop is the family's services arm. Brokerage and sourcing work, custom curation, bespoke commissions, marketing and brand strategy, and strategic advisory engagements. Anything that calls for a longer conversation than a standard service form can support.

Jake and Luke run the operational and sourcing sides of the work — both of them on rotation in the United States Coast Guard, both careful with logistics and standards. Andrew comes in on the advisory side, bringing institutional experience to founders, small-business owners, and nonprofit leaders working through strategic questions.

This is the division that begins with a phone call rather than a price list. We work with a small number of clients at a time, on projects that warrant the attention.

Among the work

What may be commissioned.

  • Strategic advisory and consulting engagements
    ·
  • Marketing and brand strategy — campaigns, positioning, and go-to-market
    ·
  • Brokerage services (sourcing specific items on a client's behalf)
    ·
  • Bespoke curation projects (private libraries, art acquisitions, gift sourcing)
    ·
  • Custom-built solutions outside the standard division offerings
    ·
  • One-off projects, by appointment

Each project begins with a conversation.

Engagement Types
Three Lines of Work

The kinds of work we take on.

The Workshop accepts engagements in three formats. Each begins the same way. The shape of the work is set in conversation.

i.

Strategic Advisory

For founders, small-business owners, and nonprofit leaders working through positioning, naming, capital strategy, fundraising design, governance questions, or growth decisions. By the hour or by the project. The advisor brings institutional experience: Johns Hopkins University fellow in economic development; Goldman Sachs 10,000 Small Businesses fellow in marketing development; alum of McKinsey & Company’s Forward Program; supported a $5M capital campaign at the Cathedral of Mary Our Queen.

ii.

Sourcing & Brokerage

For clients looking for specific objects. A particular bottle. A hard-to-find book. An antique piece. A gift built around a brief. We make the calls, we vet the seller, we handle the transaction. The work is finished when the object is in the right hands. Discreet, by appointment, fee scoped to the brief.

Sourcing Director
iii.

Bespoke Curation

For buyers building a private library, an art collection, a wine cellar, or a curated gift package. Engagements begin with the budget, the brief, and the room or shelf the work will land in. We propose, the client selects, we deliver. Provenance documented. Price agreed up front.

Operational Director
How We Work
By the conversation, not by the form

From first call to delivery.

i.
First Conversation

A phone call or a written exchange. We learn what the project is, what the constraint is, what the deadline is. No NDAs at this stage. The first call is on us.

ii.
Scoping

We write back with a written scope. What we propose to do. What we propose not to do. The format of the deliverable. The lead Workshop sibling on the engagement.

iii.
Proposal

A fixed fee where the work permits, an hourly rate where it does not. Stated up front. Half on kickoff, half on delivery. Rates and terms in writing before any work begins.

iv.
Kickoff

Half the fee, signed agreement, calendar set. Weekly or biweekly check-ins, depending on the brief. The client is in the loop throughout.

v.
Delivery

The deliverable, the second invoice, a brief debrief. If revisions were scoped, they are honored. If something fell short, we say so and make it right.

The Workshop takes on a small number of clients at any given time. We would rather decline than disappoint.

Prior Engagements
Institutional Experience

Work that informs the practice.

The Workshop is new. The work behind it is not. A few of the engagements that shaped the way we approach a brief.
